The essence of nursing is care, providing help to the patient to face the transition from life to death; therefore, palliative care becomes fundamental in nursing. The objective is to describe nursing care in palliative care. Palliative care focuses on the care of patients with terminal illness from their diagnosis in a humanized context, taking into account the fragility and suffering of the patient and/or family. The “theory of the peaceful end of life” describes how nursing care can help in the proximity of death. It is necessary to care for the elderly from a humane vision and accompaniment.
