Children admitted to pediatric emergencies, after being stabilized, require constant monitoring due to their vulnerability to hemodynamic changes. To address this, tools such as the pediatric early warning scales have been developed, which allow alterations to be detected in a timely manner. The objective of this article is to show our experience in using a pediatric early warning scale to early identify physiological alterations in children in the emergency observation service of a tertiary hospital, to provide immediate care and prevent complications. These scales can be applied in pediatric emergency services and hospitalization areas, being easy to use and low cost. Although they may face initial resistance, their validated effectiveness makes them valuable.
